Howdy y’all. I’ve been dreaming of a T for years. I love all rods, but a T just seems so raw and true. That being said, I’ve just retired and am now pursuing my dream. I was scrolling FB and an interesting auction popped up. One of the items said a Model T kit. It had a body and what looked like frame parts. I took the leap, and made the purchase. When I went to pick up my buy, I was lucky enough to meet the previous owner. He was a former South African, and had even been the President of the South African Model T Club! Well, he shared some great for me news. This wasn’t a fiberglass kit (not knocking those at all. I will probably build one of those next!) This was a real metal 23 that had been a 4 door, and he had chopped down to be an extended cab 2 door. I was dumbfounded.
To continue, I also acquired 2 additional sets of frame rails, some front and rear springs, and a small assortment of other goodies. Now, I have to get to work. In Kentucky, we can build a vintage vehicle, but must keep all receipts and costs of all parts and services to build our machine. You know how the tax people like our money.
So my plan is to start with a quick and dirty build. Slap the body on a Jeep chassis and maintain the 4wd. Enjoy this while I build the rod chassis. I hope this will allow me to enjoy and build at the same time.
What do y’all think? Have I lost my mind?
