Paint&body work price for my body.

Got a qoute to have the paint and body work done. $700 - $800
Going to be satin black. Just the body, box, and grill shell

That fair?

If this is a body shop price , it's dirt cheap!! Must not include any "straightening". Scuff , prime & paint in about 4-5 hrs. depending on labor rates. Did they give you a labor / material breakdown?

The guy doing it. Did another T, and has some body panels from a sprint car are done in primer right now. All looks real nice.
That price includes straightening and materials. He looked at it. I stretched my body 5" and glassed it back togother. He said it wasn't that bad. No problem.
That price was an estimate, But wouldn't be over a grand.

I checked with a couple of shops around here on costs to just to shoot the paint on the body. The 1st was 1500 and the second was 800.

One shop here did tell me 3000. I thought that was nuts and I was in trouble. Never going to finish my car. But I shopped around and asked some friends.

Had mine done last spring, labor and prep was more than your quote. When I added the House of Kolor metal flake paint came out closer to 3,000.00. I had stretched the box on mine and cut in a door so there was some glass work done. Because of this there was a ton of block sanding to do to get everything smooth. Any glass work seems to take a lot of extra work and around here most body shops will not even touch glass bodies. If the quality is good then it seems to be a very good price.

A lot depends on the color and type of paint you are going to use. Red being the most expensive and black being the least expensive. I have seen some reds go for $400 a quart. That does not count primers and clear coats. Then there is body work. So yes it could cost $3000 just depends on what you are getting.

Can any other painters tell me if a quart will cover a t body, bed, and 32 grill? I haven' painted in a long time but my memory says yes. It is a house of kolor candy system. Base and midcoat I have a quart each. I have a gallon of clear so I know im good there.

From a previous post you seem to know Meangreen. I would suggest that you confide in him as he has painted for many years and still does it. He is also relatively close to where you reside. IMHO
