Parts washer fluid - "green"

Keeper

Active Member
Just a question that some may be able to answer.

I just picked up a 20 gal parts washer and was looking for solvent/cleaner and was wondering if anyone has experience with "green" or non-flammable parts washer fluid.

I use mostly regular solvent but with pets running around the shop and the fact that there is a bedroom right above it I was looking for something that would not catch the garage on fire.

I have come across a bunch of products but would rather have some "I have used this stuff" comments. I have used and like simple green but I am not sure how they would do in a parts washer.

Thanks.

I use mineral spirits, but when I first bought my parts washer I used the one Northern sells where you mix it 50-50 with water. It ate the paint off of the parts washer!!! I took the washer back and they gave me a brand new one, and since using mineral spirits I haven't had any more problems.
