G'Day All,
Just a quick note to advise that Photobucket no longer does free 3rd Party hosting, you have to pay for it now! It will affect those that have pics on here linked to photobucket.
Regards,
Mike.

I always recommend that pics be uploaded to the website so that they are always viewable, instead of some box saying there use to be a pic here. Things change people move files around, rename them and web hosting sites make changes.

Mine are still up in my old threads. Lucky? Anyway, the upload feature works here and I also have a photo album on the HAMB. IMO, Photobucket has been creeping up to this for a long time. The pop ups had begun to increase. I've got a TON of pics and memories on their, but as far as I'm concerned, they can shove 'em all where the sun doesn't shine.

I doubt this will last. There are a lot of people who'll leave them rather than fork over the bucks. Bastards.

I just logged on to Photobucket and it still says that individuals can still have free acounts:
"Free account : Each individual Member gets one free account that provides 2 GB of free storage or space available for your original photo files, or video"

Read more: Photobucket - Photo and image hosting, free photo galleries, photo editing.

Read further.

Free account : Each individual Member gets one free account that provides 2 GB of free storage or space available for your original photo files, or videos under 10min. The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting. If a free account Member exceeds their Content Limit, their account will be immediately suspended and they will need to become a “Paying Member” (defined below) in order to continue accessing their account. You can upgrade to a Plus account at any time.

Let me try:

Just spent the last 2 hours loading my pics on "pissbcket" to a Flash Drive. Then, I sent them a very nasty email.

I have not noticed as many ads from them in my email recently. It's going to be a pita uploading pics onto this site now. Not everyone has the ability to upload direct. I have never been able to. Is anyone aware of any other options besides p bucket? Is it simply a matter of storage that inhibits this site? Not being critical, just querious.

Ron, how expensive is it to store on the site? Can we use the cloud to store them then link to it? I know nothing about storage stuff.

There are actually quite a few free photo sites. Here are a few:

Upload and Share Your Images With These Free Image Hosting Websites

Storage is fairly reasonable. I am paying $10 a month for my web hosting at Ipowerweb.com.
Ron is obviously on a much bigger plan than I am at $150 a month.
However I would not recommend storing photos on any website without having your originals stored in a safe place and backed up to a USB key or disk.
Websites come and go. This is a great site and I hope it is around for a long time and I try to contribute annually to support it, but a day will come when it is gone and if this is the only place that photo exists it too will be gone.
Just look at myface and webbook.. lol

For my build threads I've used Firefox and an "Add-On" to capture the whole thread as an PDF file. There is a lot more there than just pics in the thread, also lots of details about the thread that are not saved anywhere else.

Yes I do save all my original photos to my NAS (Network Attached Storage), it has 12 Tera Bytes of storage. Actually I save all my files to the NAS. Just one of it's features is Q-Sync, which is just like DropBox, except no one can see my files but me.

See you there, weather permitting of course!:)

If you don't have or want a website Yes, NAS is handy home backup.
I have a small 2 bay NAS with twin 2TB drives for all my files.
USB keys are very easy for the novice computer guy and cheap now, I think you get 30 Gig USB keys now for $30.
I need a website and love the affordability of having the online storage without the user agreements that say everything you post is ours. Plus I like having my own domain with my own e-mail.

Yes, that would be very nice to have my own email address. Maybe I will get around to that someday.
