Pros and cons short wheel base verses long wheel base

I would too, extremely clean:thumbsup:
Would love to see a pic of the steering rack from the underside

I'm not a rack & pinion kind a guy but would like to have more information on your set up.
Please??

At the risk of contributing to a threadjacking, so would I. Maybe a separate thread on it, PotvinGuy?

It's a Honda Civic R&P, chosen for it's dimensions; we didn't have to mod it at all. I imagine many others would work. U-joint to a steering rod running alongside the frame rail, to a double U-joint at the steering column. One steering rod support to frame about mid-engine. It has a little bump steer, but nothing major. Would like to add a damper someday as R&P has super feedback. Anything I can add?

Why did you choose to go with rack and pinion rather than a conventional box? (and again, if this has already been discussed ad nauseam, just say so.)

Because I am a rebel, a lone wolf, a pioneer, a provocateur, a...you can stop me anytime now. Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time. And 20 years ago lots of people said it wouldn't work, which made it even more attractive to me. And I met a very bright Bonneville builder, a mechanical engineer, who said "looks OK to me." And darned if it didn't work. I'm still tinkering on it, dreaming of splitting the axle, adding shocks, etc.

What does the rack fit if I might ask? Dwight Sorry stopped reading on p1 should have went to p2

My pal fitzee and I took his long T bucket with 454 BBC to Moncton last year for the Atlantic Nationals.
We took the short route (850 Miles...two 14 hour overnite ferry rides to get there and back). Awesome time and great on the road. Can't say what the wheelbase is, but I know he lengthened it and the body so he could fit inside instead of on top!

BTW...the frame is 2x3x3/16.

Thanks to all of you for your input . When i start the frame i will go for the look that I'm looking for and hope it will not as be as long as I'm thinking.
