Quick question

Ok so here I am stumped.....I just finished firing up engine #3, 350 bored 60over with Comp Cam part number 12-242-2 and my 305 High Output heads that has been modified with larger valves and port and polished. The motor had been sitting for about a year or so. The old 327 seemed to run warm some and I figured the electrical temp gauge may be bad so I installed a mechanical gauge too. I found that the electrical gauge was off by about 5 degrees. Well I have the electrical gauge installed in the Drivers head and the mecahnical in the Passenger head. I drove the car up the road today and noticed after playing alittle the driver side stayed about 160 but the passenger side climbed like crazy but the dropped back down. I am talking like up to 230. It only did it a couple times. I thought it might be air but after checking the water after running it some it was fine. It did it a couple times more and then stopped. So my question is what can it be.

So both sides read the same now? Switch sending units to see if the problem travels to the other side. Switch heads side for side ? Are both heads off the same engine? Do they have the same part numbers ? Still could be an air bubble.

Fishing right now. John

Try a raytek gun they are one of the best additions to a toolbox. They can find a miss quicker than any other way I know. Point anywhere instant temp. Best 40 bucks you can spend

The heads are from the same engine and they were on my 327 till I spun a bearing. I would like to try and switch the sending units but the problem with the mechanical one is it wont reach to the other side. I guess I could pull it out thru the floor and drill a hole on the other side and run it that way.

Thanks for the response though.

Putz I may have to get me one of those and try that. I really hope it seems to be done now. It's been down since October and I have been going through withdrawls... :hyper: but i just decided to suck it up and replace the motor and get it done in the snow since I dont have a shop to do it in. :cold: so when everyone looked at me like I was crazy driving it this morning in 26 degree weather I just smiled...... :good:

Here is me at 25 degrees going only about 5 miles to work.:cold:

Hey you guys, This is the kind of stuff I like to see. Fun with the family, good friends, and now all you need is a cup of coffee and some of Mom's homemade apple pie! Both of the cars are very cool! Good job, guys! From sunny California, wish you were here.

Hey Putz, all your missing is a really long 'Snoopy' scarf wrapped around your neck and flapping in the breeze as you fly down the road! You deserve the 'Hardcore T-Bucket Cold Cubes' Award!!!!
