Rear radius rod mts.

I've got 10" between frame and backer plate, any certain spec for placement of axle mounts for the radius rods. Farther out would be best correct? The shock mounts should be directly behind the rod mounts for best effectiveness of the coil overs. Right or wrong?

It's really your call , coilover's lose some capacity [there used to be a chart in speedway's catalog that showed how much at what angle] .
Radius rods are more effective for traction mounted more or less straight back but allow a" little " more body roll mounted at an angle. Pick your poison & the "look" you're after.

The Radius Rods work best angled out from the frame, sort of triangulating, the amount will vary depending on length and space, ours tend to be around 2" from the tire. The Coil-Over shock mounts will sort of set themselves depending on the upper mount..figure on about 5" outboard of the upper mount. Bed clearance, frame width and what looks best will dictate where the uppers will go.

I figured as much, but i guess I needed to hear it from the masses. Thanks

Radius rods about 9 or 10 degrees out from frame. Shocks about 20 degrees in toward frame. These are guidelines, not hard/fast rules.

I say it depends on how much angle you can get from your hiem joints or the angle of the frame mounting bracket. Don't want the hiems binding.
Speedway had the angle of shock mounting and what rate springs to use with the different angles in most of their catalogs, as well as a lot of other usefull info on all aspects of building hotrods.

I've seen the charts on Speedways' site and they are hidden in the QA1 coilover shock description. I hope it's alright to post it here if not feel free to remove it. I've never done this before so I'm not even sure this will work. Go to the Speedway Motors site and type in images/charts/721395.jpg or images/charts/how-coilovermount.gif.

Thanks guys. I have seen that chart for the angles but not the one to add weight for accessories. I don't have any mounts tacked yet, I am waiting for the lowered axle mounts from RPM. Everything will be inline then, no bind for this rear end. ha ha.

HenrysT how did you put that link up? In my post above I posted the link you have and another for the spring rates. I know that they were both there yesterday because I clicked on them to make sure they worked. I guess there must be ghosts in the machine.

"copy" your "menu bar" by "left clicking" over it, then "copy" it by right clicking it. Go to where you want to "paste" it, right click it and "paste" it. Somebody can probably explain it better(for sure), using diagrams, charts and/or pictures, but that it.
