Long story short
about a year ago there I found an ad in the local paper for a 68 Camaro big block for $5500!!!!So I My uncle called ,it was in Ohio,he sent pics very nice he had a way to ship for free wanted payment through Yahoo finance. Weird
We said we have a trailer and would bring cash be there tomarrow done.the seller come up with a story why that wouldnt work for him blah blah blah.we figured scam and left it at that
present day
My wifes uncle sees a newwer John Deer in the local paper really cheap. he called its a few states away but he can ship for free and wants payment through yahoo finance.I say no its a scam.He sends money!!!!Its been 2 weeks no word no tractor no money. To top it off his brother was in Mississippi and sees the same ad in the local paper, turns out its in like 13 different papers saying the tractor is located in different states.
If it sounds to good to be true it normally is.
Be careful out there

It's sad, but it's the sign of the times. When things get tough, the scum starts to crawl out of the woodwork. Effing bottom feeders.

Sorry to hear your wifes uncle got caught in a small trap. It could have been worse.

Some time ago I had a metal lathe for sale, a fellow called from london said he was sending a certified check and would arange to have it picked up. I tried to contact him at the email with his offer but it was not a active account. To make long story short I finally got a message to him cash only. Thats the only way to sell unless you know the other party.:D..Francis

That happens a lot on the free classified sites, if they want payment through "yahoo finance" or "ebay secured vehicle sales" (which does not exist) it is a scam.

They post them a lot up here. I have been caught a couple times emailing them for more info, but its always the same story.

"My husband died and I have no use for the cars, send me payment through ebay blah blah blah...."

Must be better than the old scam where you give them money and the car. This way they don't get caught with stolen merchandise, just cash.

I had a guy try to tell me, in email, that it wasn't right when I told him "my bank says cash in person".
