Spammers . . .

You may have noticed some recent spam coupons showing up on this site. WebMistress is aware of it and will be addressing a way to block all of them shortly. Please bear with us, and DON'T try to use them!

(PS - In the meantime I am trying to delete them as they appear.)

I've deleted about 100 so far and traced the IP address for 4 of them. One led to Romania, one to the state of Virginia, can't remember the other two. Has anyone tried to use one and had a problem?

i will be getting this fixed once I am home on Wednesday. I am also tired of deleting them while on vacation. lol

There must be a way to block them. And I am sure I will figure it out.

I have tightened up our spam filters but will be monitoring the site closely to make sure I have everything correct.
Rest assured we are taking this seriously.

Spam and spammers are like weeds in a finely manicured lawn. You spray, dig out the weeds, plant new grass and everything looks great. Then, one morning you wake up to see a whole new batch of weeds popping up. Good luck.....
Thank you, we will do our best to contain them as much as we can.

Pretty sure the member Cobramech is a scammer as well even though he created an intro thread. Now I can't say this 100% but there is a lot of red flags. I guess he saw the wanted post I did for laid back windshields posts and sent me this message which didn't quite make sense "decently used" "email me for quick feedback" and didn't give a price and he wanted me to directly email him vs talking through the site. I didn't bother responding because it seemed fishy.

I did some digging and found the ad where he took the photos from on the Hamb. I couldn't attach a screenshot because it was too big.

I tried messaging him back to see if he would say that was his hot rod in the background but no response.

But the fact that...
he didn't want to talk through the site
used photos from another ad
didn't give a price
weird wording in the message

Maybe it was a legit count at first and someone hacked into it but just wanted to let everyone know in case he was trying to sell parts to anyone else. It's unfortunate how much scamming of car parts goes on now on forums and Facebook. It's made me very hard to trust buying stuff online unless they are a regular seller that other people have worked with or are active in the forums as well.

Safe shopping my friends!

Interesting feedback, and it does sound fishy to me as well. Not sure if that is enough on its own to kick him out… wondering what others here think.

Let me take a look at Cobramech‘s account and see if I can find anything else that doesn’t seem right.

Yea I wasn't trying to get him kicked out since I wasn't 100% sure but just wanted to warn everyone. It is odd he was a member since September 26, made his first post in late October then came back in February. It's a shame we have to be so cautious now.

You were right to warn us, as when I looked into his account further, I was able to determine that his is actually from Africa.
Guess he was working on a long-term scam rather than the quickie Temu ones. lol

I have removed his account. Thank you for the heads up about this account.
