Speedway mufflers

These are the mufflers that slide in the extensions.
Do any of you use these. If so what way do they go in?

I installed mine with the smooth entrance toward exhaust flow. Like the top muffler. Was told by others it did not matter, but looking inside it looked like this was the right direction.

When I look in side them. There are little fins that look like waves.
Should the exhaust flow over the back of the wave or into the wave?

Exhaust flow should go with the grain, not against it.

I recently replaced my old extentions for new ones. The old ones were damaged by battery acid from my accident. (pics to come later). Well, I used the old mufflers but I cut one end off of each and then installed them. The tone is just right. Not loud enough to call the law, but loud enough to ge that hot rod rumble.

Oh, I installed them with the open end of the "wave" going towards the engine. Honestly, I don't think it would matter either way.

I don't think it really matters. I installed mine with the louvers towards the engine. Sounds pretty good. Nice deep tone. It's not as much fun as the open exhaust but it's a lot easier on the ears.
