I had a real cool thing happen this afternoon. The weather was nice and warm, traffic in front of my job had thinned out, so you know what that means..... TEST DRIVE! Well, I cruise down to the end of the street and head back to the intersection in front of my job. I was going to shoot across and roll into the mechanics shop at the other side.
Well, this Vette is coming to the intersection as I was heading towards it. He gets to the stop sign, pauses to look and makes his turn. I arrive shortly after, stop and then PUNCH it through the intersection and roll into the front of the mechanics joint. As, I'm climbing out of my T, the Vette guy and his girl roll up and park. He compliments me on my car and starts to tell me his story. Seems he has always wanted a T Bucket, but never saw one run on the street to get an idea how they look on the road. He says he's hooked! So, I gave him info about companies, an old Total P catalog I had and the address of this site. I hope he makes it in.
Let me tell ya, it felt really good to talk about T Buckets with someone who was curious and interested. I told him about the joys (driving it) and the pitfalls (little room), so he could understand what all he may be gaining and losing. We traded phone numbers and I invited him to take a drive whenever he wants and when mine is legal.
Now here's the cool part. Just before he left, he asked me if they get a lot of attention. With a sly, straight face, I said. "Well, you came back to check my car out, didn't you?" Man, we had a great laugh and he had to agree. He says he likes his Vette, but he might see another one at the next light. He said he'll NEVER see what I'm driving in the next year, unless it's me!
I'm not legal yet (soon, so soon) and have only been one block from where she was born, but owning, driving and spreading the word is a joy and a half already! Roll on, brothers!
