thanks in advance

We glassed in a 1/2" square steel tube along the bottom of the dash. The column drop bolts to it.

i am making mine with a piece of 1 5/8 tube shaped in a upside down u butted against the firewall and the width of the frame.

I don't know what type of column you are planning on using. Personally, I don't like using a factory column as they are too bulky looking in my opinion for a T. I built my own using a piece of heavy wall aluminum conduit. I installed two bearings to support the double D shaft and the base of the column is mounted to a piece of 1/4" aluminum plate. The column is attached to the bottom of the dash by means of a piece of square steel tubing that has "legs" that go to the floor with steel plate "feet". These feet act as a body mounting point to the frame. Therefore, the column is very rigidly mounted. On the outside of the firewall there is a bearing to support the shaft on its way to the steering box. I've attached a few pictures that might help explain things.
