Steering part concern

Not sure what the name of this part is but it is the part that connects the draglink to the spindle to let the steering work. I've not had a problem with it but I am now to the front of the car and am cleaning and painting everything and when I started sand blasting this it scared me. What do you think? It's really solid, not pretty but it isn't going anywhere. Somewhere along the line someone felt the need to change this so it is the way it is now. Where would I get a new on if I need one?

Let me know what you guys think, Replace? Repaint and forget about it?

That looks pretty ugly Ron at RPM has these let him know ford or chevy axle. This is what I think it should look like. They are 24 dollars

Oh yea that's well worth 24 bucks! I'll contact him, thanks

Wow! Definitely replace it! Not just ugly, but questionable on the safety aspect. Like has been said, contact Ron Pope (RPM) and have him make you a new one. He can custom make one if you need a specific dimension or length.

Yep I've talked to Ron, I'm gonna shoot him some more pics tonight and he's going to set me up with what I need. Thanks guys

Ron: Just a note here about the Econoline spindle steering arm. Most of them when bolted on get in the way of the brake wheelcylinder opening. I had to turn mine Upside down and mill out some clearance.

I got the pictures and that is an Econoline spindle. We do have the steering arm for it. Also have the disc brake adapters if you wanted to go that route.
I'll call you today.

Yea the line did hit the arm when I was removing it, I planned on talking to Ron about that when I call him back.

Many moons before I knew Ron, somebody on the NTBA web site sent templates to me (maybe in 1999 or 2000) for steering arms for 37-48 Ford spindles. I have the templates in my files somewhere at home.
