SATURDAY, APRIL 23: TO ALL MEMBERS

Posting is the only way I have to reach the members, so I’m putting this on every forum this morning. Please read and think and act.

Ron Pope, the present admin and owner of the site, wants out. He wants $2000 to sell the site. Otherwise he kills it. If 20 members give $100 each I can buy the site and keep it running. Please email me directly at dr.kerrysmith@gmail.com if you want to help keep the site going. So far I have 8 members who have stepped up. We need $1200 more or the site dies. If $100 is too much for you then $50 will help. Several members have even offered to give more if needed, but we should all pitch in.

But no one will pay until we have commitments to cover the $2000. If and when that happens I will explain the procedure (I'll set up a new PayPal acct just for tbucketeer money).

NTBA charges member dues. Nonmembers can't view or post. I think this is the way to go. Many "guests" visit our site and pay nothing. Many members don’t contribute either. And our present "donations" aren't charity; the site has monthly expenses! If I'm the next admin we will change to a dues structure. I like the idea of a recurring monthly payment of $5 from your PayPal or credit card so members don't have to "renew" or do anything, and I won’t have to bug anyone.

I don't see any options. If Ron doesn't get the $2000 the site dies. And if the site isn't worth $5/month to you then I'm wasting my time. I love our site and I hope you do too. Please email me today dr.kerrysmith@gmail.com.

Hello. I have not been on here in quite awhile. My wife got very sick and passed away about 14 months ago. I'm just starting to get back on my feet so to speak. Tell me what I need to do. I will gladly donate $100.00 to our site. Just get in touch with me. Sincerely, Bernie Sievers (812)-499-4824 Southern Indiana 47591

So sorry to hear that, Bernie. This is a great group and very supportive. Most of us find what we do with T-buckets is very therapeutic for the lumps and bumps that life often deals out. I'm sure our webmistress would be thrilled with a donation.

Very sorry to hear about your loss, hope you are taking care of yourself. It is a long road to get back on your feet after such a devastating blow. My husband passed away in 2013, so I partially understand what you have been going through. Glad to see you are back. I agree with Spanky, t-buckets can be therapeutic.

That said, if you are wanting to donate that is wonderful news & thank you so much. It is members like yourself that are keeping this site alive, and we really appreciate the support. 🩷

The top menu bar has a Donate button where it will take you to Paypal.
Some members do a one off donation, and we have a few members that have setup a monthly donation to make things easier for them (not having to remember to donate every month) and us (helps a lot with our budgeting for the site's costs).

Again thank you for your desire to help keep this board running. :)

I somehow missed this drama and just noticed it as a result of oldtymehiboy’s recent post. What happened with the site and rpm? Did he sell the site? What happened with Spirit? I know they wanted the site at one time. To be clear: I have no axe to grind nor do I care who owns it, I’m just curious. It didn’t seem logical to want to sell it or just let it shut down.... sort of like buy my car or I’ll scrap it, lol... from a members perspective, it’s a nice site to keep up on others with similar interests, but from a builder or new owners perspective, it’s a invaluable source of information and support. Hate to see it die.

Ron was having trouble keeping up with the upkeep of this site. I did give a little intro when my husband & I bought the site from Ron. Hello Everyone
I agree with you about this site being an invaluable source of info & such a great community. That is why we did not want to see this site get shut down.

There is a little difference between your buy my car or I'll scrap it analogy, as there are monthly costs involved to keep this site running. That is why we have a donation system setup, so members can give a little every month or give a larger one off donation as they see fit. Everything helps with covering the maintenance costs.

I have chatted with Spirit, and for some reason they still do not want to support this site. Haven't been a sponsor for many years now.
