As we all know 3/4's of the honda's claim to be running v-tec engines....
But, today I saw a F-150 running around with a V-Tec stickers...
some kids have no clue....

I would like to see a reallity show of all these teenie gearheads. Give them a project where you have to make all your own parts and figure out whats wrong with out an OBD2 plug to plug their laptop into. They could call it "Dont Have A Clue Island"

"Don't Have A Clue Island" It wouldn't be just for teens, there are thirty-somethings that would qualify for that show.

There was a 30ish guy that brought a lawnmower to me, who said it ran the last time he used it. (WELL DUH!) I didn't figure he pushed the lawnmower around the yard not running. Anyway, he pulled and pulled on it's rope, but no fire. Well, I pushed in on the primer button and didn't feel it pull any gas. So I told him to fill the damn thing with gas each time he uses it.

I also had a 30ish woman who tried diesel fuel in her lawnmower. But that could happen to anybody who don't mark their containers.

In light of these two people, I got an electric lawnmower.:D

I live on the other side of that Island, I can close my eyes and describe every part, wire, nut and bolt in my bucket. I built it before some of our members were born (1968) and I built the 4 engines that have been in it. I have a 1975 Chevelle that I bought new that I have no problem working on and I have a 2005 Silverado that I wouldn't dare do anything but wash and change the oil. If you need a computer to fix it color me out.

+1.

I admit to becoming a dinosaur in today's automotive world. I came from a time when we used tools to tune a car, not a laptop. To me, a MAP sensor is a guy that knows the maps are kept in the glove box. And isn't a nose an oxygen sensor? :D

But I am not so close-minded as to not be pretty amazed at the kinds of power levels they're milking out of some of those wee motors. :wow:

I always thought that a MAP Sensor was a guy who knew how to fold maps!

Maps another relic of the past, Kids with GPS will never know the fun Dad  had yelling at Mom :o about how to fold a map correctly.

I started a 35+ year career with Illinois Bell Telephone (AT&T before the break up) as an installer when they still offered party lines. We had to rewire the phones before installing them for either party 1 or party 2. Thank the good lord they dropped 4 and 8 party lines before I began working for them.

Wasn't it fun when you messed up on one of the last couple of numbers and had to redial on an old rotary?

I remember, One Short and two longs, was a call for us. Our number back then was Diamond 5-2076.

Ours on the farm was one long and one short the number was 24 - 11 and there were eight families that share line 24. Made for some interesting conversations that were not meant to be over heard.

Funny how I can remember things like that but can't remember what day of the week it is - or to put the trash out. :eh:

hey, I resemble that remark!

My wife and boy was visiting a friend the other day and he called me to tell me about the phone he had found at her house. He said it was so old that it said operator under the zero. you had to turn it instead of pushing buttons. I had to think about it for a minute to realize ours didn't say that anymore???

My favorite phone number is still BR549. Anyone under 40 wont know what this means with out some help from one of the older guys.
