Windshield reinforcement

Hello all,
I've got my floor glued and glassed in, added wood blocks to the sides so I have something to screw the top to, added a few extra blocks to stiffen the body and reinforced the firewall and dash. And I'm getting ready to drop in the insert (Spirit body) But before I do..

What is the best way to reinforce the area that the windshield will mount to?

I know it will be much easer to do it before I glue in the insert.

I used a piece of 14 gage steel plate about 8 x 8 drilled some random 1/4" holes in it and stuck it in with some bondo. Then laid 2 layers of glass over that.

I did similar to what RPM did, just smaller (about 4x4), put in place with duraglass then glassed over with 2 lays of mat.

Steel... Doh! Why didn't I think of that! Hmmm, I guess I should order up my brackets, or get busy making my own.
