I used to be good with wiring. Could trace schematics, minimize components, make just about anything work. My vision just wont support it now. It is a real challenge to me and very frustrating! Keep after it and label stuff to prevent having to retrace your steps. Does anyone make a good magnifying glass? Lol...

I enjoy wiring cars, but I don't like trying to find a problem in someone else's wiring job. I am dealing with that now on my 46. It is an ole Ron Francis harness that has no paper work any longer. If don't find the problem tomorrow, it is all coming out and I will wire it back from scratch and document it. This is a car that has power everything and ac.

Location of the ECM and power supply...….

At 75 I would have to agree but I am to far into it now to turn around....

I ASS-U-ME that is original harness and will be plug and play. You got it covered as you don't need a book--it's all in your head and the brain box will be below you.:D:D And you are up early too!!

Kinda like you, it's an old man thing I recon cause I just wake up around 4:15 no matter what time I retire at night.…..

Now if I did not miss a wire or two the damn thing should start after I get the column installed….lol

If I get more than 5-6 hours sleep my brain will be in a fog and can't do much. 4-5 hours was my normal when I worked for a living and had children and wife and now I just get up and dream of all the things I use to do.

I love wiring but this new fangled stuff just makes my head hurt.:D:whistling:

My terminal block only had 72 wires going to it. I never did find what was grounding out the system. So now I have 72 wire dangling to start the 4th attempt to find the problem. Maybe tomorrow I can contact the Ron Francis Company and see if they have a wiring schematic they can send. If not, I will start from scratch.

I hope for better results. Good luck... .

I now have my wiring problems solved. I have done a lot of work for nothing. After chasing wires for 3 or 4 times, I found the battery was the culprit. Actually I was the
problem. I somehow, in the darkened end of my shed, hooked the positive charger cable to the negative post on the battery. Since the battery was grave yard dead, it reversed the polarity of the battery. This cause the negative cable to pop and give a large spark when I tried hooking it up. I never knew this could happen in all my years, but I never hooked a charger wrong on a completely dead battery before. Hope someone here can learn by my mistake.

I can tell you're a young squirt as we use to put acid in 6 volt batteries and put the positive cable from charger to negative side of battery and same with the ground cable to positive side as the tractor/car/truck had a positive ground system.

But alas--your saving grace is that it was dark when you hooked up the charger--backwards for that battery but not wrong for all. What's a new battery worth now?
