Brake Lines

3/16" steel line. I used AN fittings on all connections where possible. If I do another, I will use the newer copper/steel lines (if that is the correct name) because they form much easier than the standard steel lines. I would stick with the AN fittings.
 
I have Earls throughout. No solid lines anywhere.
 
I used 3/16" stainless tubing and stainless flex hose at the wheels with AN fittings.

All stainless steel braided.
 
I made all the cuts and bends on my lines.

Did you guys make your own lines of the longer runs?

Yep with Earls fittings. Did have the end of the lines swaged where they meet the calipers.

This is the fitting thro the frame. Used a SS Button hed drilled to take the plastic liner

I used 3/16" steel line and AN#3. You can see how I ran it from the master. Just in front of the master I routed the line on the bottom side of the frame rail up to the front wheels which tucks just to the inside of the frame rail and used a stainless through fitting and ran stainless braided to each caliper. On the rear, at the rear bottom frame rail, I ran another braided line to the differential to a "T", and steel line out to each drum along the axle tubes. It is very well hidden and brakes work well. Tried to load a pic of the front but, for whatever reason it keeps telling me file too large.......sorry. All lines were hand bent and flared. I can only imagine what a pain flaring stainless would be. I did use a line pliers for tighter bends. You can just see where the line runs across the trans cross member to the right front wheel.

I used NiCop for the hard lines and braided stainless flex lines at the wheels and connection to the differential with all AN fittings. I had never installed any hard lines before and am very glad I used the NiCop because of the ease of bending and flaring. It looks like copper tubing but is not and meets all the standards for brake lines.

I just saw your question. No, I either bought the correct length lines or had them made. Its been too long so I don't remember which but they are 3/16" lines.
 
brake lines...what the hey! Am redoing the lines on an old someone elses build that I bought. The only 3/16 lines I can find locally have metric fittings. I can get 1/4 in. lines with US fittings. Don't want to buy a coil and fuss with straightening. Soooo, buy the ones with the metric ends, cut-em, toss the fittings and use US ones and reflare? I,m guessing that 1/4 in. is too large. Am I right? Sigh!
 
Speedway carries lots of different lengths that are 3/8x24. Don't know if you have Napa there, but they have them also. If some were a bit to long, you could cut them and reuse the fittings.
