    Edelbrock Carb Issue

My Edelbrock carb would have idle issues. Fuel would start dripping from one of the primaries during idle. So bad that engine would not idle normally at all. Bought fuel pressure gauge and during install the rubber fuel line would split whenever I tried to insert barb fitting into hose. Ended up...

    1996 Vortec 350

You can buy an HEI distributor and replace the gear with one compatible to the roller cam. Summit Racing has all of that.

    Oil Leak

That is exactly what happened. The first PCV I used was just one I chose at random not knowing that they are really engine specific. Then I read that using the wrong one can cause oil leaks around gaskets due to too much crankcase pressure. So, I got one specific to my engine and no more leaks.

    Oil Leak

Thanks to a previous post I was able to fix a persistent oil leak around the timing chain cover on my Ford 302. It was as simple as changing to the correct PVC valve for the engine. I thought they were all about the same but I was educated here to now know that they are not. Got the one for a...

    Backfires

Read this, might help. Why does my engine spit or backfire?

    Backfires

What CFM do you have. I have Ford 302 with mild cam. A 600 CFM was too much; could never get a good idle. Put on a 500 CFM and it ran great from idle to top end. Looks like the Slayer is based on Holley design. Backfire through carb is usually an indication of too lean. Too rich you would be...

    Backfires

If you can, try a different carb. If it starts and runs strong for a short time then that indicates that the all is good for a short time. Something changes to cause a very lean / almost no fuel condition. It's probably an internal problem in the carb. I had a similar problem with one. Would...

    50 degrees on a ride

We've done it before. Bundle up and go. Not really that much wind in the car.

    Ford Motor and Trans questions

Get that 302 for $200. That's what I paid for mine and it had 180K miles on it. No work needed on block and crank was still at factory specs. Pistons popped right out [no ridge]. Put in all new bearings and new cam shaft and intake for carb conversion. Summit Racing 4400 is a good cam for a...

    Ford Motor and Trans questions

I bought an AOD that had been in an F150. OD clutch pack was burned up so needed a rebuild. Did it myself. Only had to have one seal installed at a trans shop; charged me $10. Buy the shop manual. Oh....spent $25 for the tranny; about $200 rebuild and shift kits. It works great. You will also...

    brakes staing on

Hey Spanky. Where in St. Louis. I'm in Hazelwood. Perhaps we can meet up sometime and compare rides. My wife likes to cruise Forest Park.

sort of new guy from Illinois...

Ford in a Ford, period. Ford 320, AOD and Ford 8.8 rear end. I spread my build over a couple of years partially due to St. Louis weather so didn't have to spend all at once. Frame, body, interior, and radiator from Spirit. Front suspension complete and radius rods from Ron Pope. Other stuff from...

    brakes staing on

Define your brake system. MC location, components in the lines, wheel cylinders/calipers. I have MC on firewall, no proportioning valve, no check valves and 4-wheel discs with fronts larger than rear. Have no problems of any sort.

    Ford Motor and Trans questions

Have stock Ford 302 and AOD with shift kit. Starts in 2nd gear with loads of acceleration. 3.55 rear end, Aussie locker, 29" tires. With these light weight cars just about anything will feel like a rocket. Cruises at 70 mph in OD just fine. Have had it up to 90 mph but Boss [wife] said never do...

    proportioning valve

I do not have a proportioning nor do I need one. The front calipers have larger pistons than the rears. This results in differential braking. Also have a manual, 4-wheel disc MC designed for mid 70's Corvette. Combined they provide the proper combination to eliminate the need for a proportioning...

New member of the "death wobble" club

I started with some toe-in, maybe 1/8 or so. Got wobble at 30 mph. Adjusted out until no more wobble. I do not know, nor care what the measurement is now. It drives straight, no wobble up to the max I've had it...85 mph. That's as fast as I'll ever take it.

    So, why a T Bucket?

Built my 27T because: Cobra's too expensive and there are really many out there. T-bucket just doesn't have enough leg room and there are many out there. 27T has more leg room and.....ya just don't see many at car shows. Usually just mine; sometimes one more.
