How old are the current hot rodders

Ain't that the truth! I spent half my life being a good work-a-holic, instead of doing the things I'd have enjoyed. There's not a minute of overtime or forfeited weekend and vacation time that was worth it in the end. I would have never have guessed at 60 I'd bedridden. I always thought...

    Suicide door latches

Yeah, unless they are caged this kind of vehicle is not going to come close to a production car when it comes to safety. To my way of thinking, when it comes to safety they are more like a motorcycle than a car. In the end it's up to each where their safety comfort level is. I consider a...

    Suicide door latches

My build was to be quite a different animal...A simple V6 cruiser, with not enough torque to be a worry. Right next to no windshield...just a pair of Brooklands windscreens. For the wooding, my thought was to do lamination in place, not plywood, and of course extra glass layering. How it...

    Suicide door latches

The plan was for an 1.5" tube cowl hoop tied into the frame and door hinges, also providing steering column support. For the rear half of the body I'd hoped to get by with wooding and a pair of mounts tieing to the frame kickup. I wasn't too worried about cowl movement...to me problems would...

    Moon discs or Cragar Smoothies?

Here's a couple Sometime back I saw a a blacked out T with discs on ebay...looked sinister cool.

    Suicide door latches

The simplicity and the positive latching. Body flexing around the door opening always had me concerned with the other simple latch systems I've seen. That system would seem secure unless the flexing of the opening was to the point of absurdity.

    Suicide door latches

    Yup.

    Hypothetical rear shock/coilover question

What you're saying makes sense, but unfortunately without reengineering the axle bracketry I would have been stuck with the lower pivot being parallel to the axil. The urethane bushing issue would have been a mixed bag. Johnny Joints or spherical bearings on all but the lower control arm axle...

    Suicide door latches

I like the design, and at first glance see no reason they couldn't be flipped side to side for front hinged doors. If I were still in the game I'd probably spring for the last set.

    Hypothetical rear shock/coilover question

Yes, that would have been the probable ideal solution...but I suspect (and may well be wrong) a pricy one, based on the near non existent budget I was working with. The Pro SM600s that I have are new old stock, 6" stroke chrome monotube units...no slouches. A quick search of Speedway & Summit...

    Hypothetical rear shock/coilover question

No Ford bushings in this scenario...just the ones from the Pro shocks...probably stiffer than the factory ones.

    headlights

Sorry, I meant to say halogens, not H4s

    headlights

On my Cougar we had dim H4s. The solution for me was to go to a Xenon bubs kit, with fletcherson's dual relays and direct to battery leads solution. The result was almost overwhelmingly bright...took a bit of getting used to. High beams are almost never needed.

    Hypothetical rear shock/coilover question

To be up front for those that are unfamiliar with my situation, my build was cut short by health issues...almost certainly permanently. I still play around with the plans and what-if ideas just to have something to do. One of several unconventional aspects of the plan was to be the use of...

    Old Guy's keep busy project

I always say my memory is like trying to catch water with a chain link fence.

    Unusual rear suspension

There are a number of variations of torsion suspension intended for trailers. More than once I've pondered potential simple uses for the components...but the ideas have quickly gotten complex.

    Spring over or spring behind

For my build I was planning on (and have the components for) going spring over. to maintain a lower stance I have a 5" drop axle and a mono-leaf spring. Two reasons for going with the spring over configuration. First, I was shooting for the shortest wheelbase I could get. Second, in my...

    Buckets at NSRA OKC

I'd love to get a look at the rear of the yellow wit red scallops ride. Ever since I started toying with the idea of doing a T, I've been drawn to the idea of doing an enclosed cab like the red one.

    Front end parts

Wow...beats me what's up there. One thing I would try is take a look on cnet for a stand alone file conversion program. Some years back I was working with someone using an older file format program, and found a utility program that allowed us to get past the version barrier.

    Front end parts

Am I getting it right that your machines are running Windows XP? Just guessing here, but I'm wondering DS is no longer supporting XP.<shrug> I'm running Windows 10.
