In the engines section it was mentioned that thinner can be used to clean metal parts that I had always used acetone to clean. well, how about fiberglass? can thinner be used to do cleanup and degrease on glass and the stuff to work with resin ect?

Acetone for fiberglass. Thinner (or acetone) for metal. IMHO

Be VERY careful using acetone on fiberglass or for that matter even lacquer thinner as they BOTH will attack fiberglass. Wipe on wipe off, do not let it set and you should be OK.

I worked in the boating business and acetone was what we always used to degrease fiberglass boats before painting or doing any glass work. You wouldn't want to use it on painted fiberglass but gelcoat is ok. Wear gloves though as it is not too good for your liver.
