Bucket lip trim

So I've got this riveted on aluminum rail that has a flexible hard-rubber-like piece that snaps over the rail to hide it. I removed part of the cover which is easy since some rivets have failed and were replaced with screws. The head on the screw is large and prevents the piece from snapping on properly. Also, I'd like something wider to cover where the seat material likes to pull out from under the rail and also to cover some chips in the paint created by it being kicked on getting into the Bucket.

The only thing I've found that might work is this Extreme seal stuff that's used on boats to seal covers to the fiberglass.

Not sure if the stuff is flexible and/or tough enough or if it would look bad. I guess I'd have to use snaps to attach it?

Anybody else have any ideas on this? I know about Hidem, but I'd like to keep the aluminum rail if I could. I'd like to do something 'different' here that has a nice finished look.
