Ron, you are correct about drifting from the original subject. So on that note I will add one more thought. All coil springs are rated with no load applied in inches of compression of 1.0 inche. So if you have a 150 in lb spring and apply 150 lbs of weight it will compress 1". Apply 300 lbs of weight and it will compress 2 inches and so on. If the load is applied through a lever or at an angle then those same values change. All of this has to be considered to get a true right height and spring rate. That is the reason everyone have different rated springs on similar weight cars. Just something to think about.
