Page 40s early 50s Chev and dodge used an MC frame mount w/ the integral pedal pivot , there may be others , that may be an olds or Pontiac rear as they were both popular for drag cars ( still are ) 4-3/4 is Chev. , Olds and Pontiac I thought were bigger (5 on 5.5 ??) Brakes look awfully big to be Chev. May be olds or Pontiac. With custom axles ??

Can you tell if the brake pedal moves any further now with the smaller master cylinder? Theoretically it will have to travel further.

Indy, I went from a 1 1/8" to a 1" piston. My travel increased maybe an inch and a half. On the good side, I have much better stopping power now than before. No sorry at all for the change.

I don't have trouble locking mine, but the wife might have trouble. It would be nice if it was alittle easier, so hence my reason for asking how the pedal travel changed.

I know what you mean. I am pretty sure my wife would have had problems with my old set up. Mine would lock up, but it took a big boy leg to do it, not that I really want to lock them. They simply feel like I have more positive control now.

I didn't change the master cyl bore size, It's still 1".. I did put on new wheel cylinders which had a very slightly bigger bore but the difference was minimal.. The rear shoes were put back together with a good cleaning, correct lubrication & correct adjustment & all works great.. Certainly not power brakes good but a vast improvement from before the work..

Were you able to define what the rear came from, what MC did you use ?

It looks like the rear is from a 57 to 59 Oldsmobile, not sure what though.. I still don't know about the Master Cylinder, they were able to identify is from a number stamped on the side but couldn't tell me what it fitted... I'll be looking for another side mount but twin system with a 7/8" bore. Any ideas ??

Quick search didn't show anything but speedway lists some pedal/ MC mounts with cylinders that can bolt to the frame....
