Low Slung T

This is the structure I have under my seat. Supports the seat and the passenger side has my fuse boxes and OBD port. The right is my battery box. I just painted it so with this Houston humidity, I’m going to wait a little bit for the paint to fully dry before putting the battery in it.

This is the battery cable and through panel connections I have. For the life of me, I can’t believe I need that big of a cable, but all the reading I have done says I do.

Tranny cooler mentioned earlier. Hope it works. If not, I have a plan B.

My cup holders. If you look closely at the face metal, you can see I warped it. I’ll address that later. For now, it works.

Last one for the day, I think. My new gauge panel. The first pic is what was part of the body. It just wasn’t wide enough so I cut it out and built this. I’m pretty close on how I will lay out the gauges. I’m not sure about the lights though. I’d like to keep them off the dash. Classic industries make gauges with the high beam and turn signal lights built into them. Another part of my gauge debacle...76620E2D-AEB7-4B42-B570-B2221815CDEB.jpeg D9EEC509-4C5F-445C-BA5A-F939F5D058E0.jpeg 1B3D9CFA-0C22-49D2-90DF-F07FB3B31AAE.jpeg 27AE496F-E44A-46C8-94F7-3CC34E42FA3E.jpeg 036383ED-D6E4-4FC2-9619-56D2449F8C8F.jpeg EB6C531D-8DE4-4D54-A3B2-3704422A1DAB.jpeg

What a bunch of wires......I enjoy wiring, but that may have changed my mind. I know it is not as bad as it looks once you get started. At least you have it labeled.

Yeah. It is a TON of wires. Just take it a piece at a time, keep them labeled and it’s not horrible. The 12 circuit harness I got for the body and lights is all printed on wire which makes it nice. I did have to get creative because they didn’t include some stuff I needed Like reverse lights or power for my fuel injection and it was really made for column switches not toggle switches. But it really wasn’t too bad. Just took a lot of time. I’m actually almost done. All that’s left for wiring is the gauges, the headlight and fan connections, some grounds and the battery cable. I might start the battery cable tonight. My son and I just finished up mounting the transmission cooler and finished the sub harness for my switch panel.

Oh yeah. Still need to loom and secure the whole harness.

That's impressive electrical work !

Heres a suggestion but its out of the box

Idiot light for turn and main beam in the headlight stand.. I can see both sides from the seat

That is a pretty good idea Gerry. I was thinking about putting them on the bottom lip of the dash. I think I could still see them there when they lit up but they’d be pretty well hidden otherwise.

I used 'superflux' Leds.
Pic on hi beam on with head lights on. Blue LED clearly visable.
I wanted the turn signals there as well because you can clearly see them without searching for a light on the dash.... in your field of vision at all times.

Small, as you can see in the pics. Bit of a fiddle to wire them up. Group them in 6 and they work straight off 12 V. otherwise a resistor is needed. You can now get single 12v LEDS but I dont know if they are superflux.Best bit is they are really cheap so I always buy them by the dozen
PS If you want my pics deleted just let me know.

Gerry - I’m good with your pictures. I thinks it is kind of nice when I look at builds and see discussions on how to do stuff. Gives me and hopefully other plenty of thoughts and ideas.

I thought I was making some progress today. Got some battery cables made.

But then, apparently my measurements we leading me down the toad of a positive frame. Not sure exactly how this happened, but I’m blaming the Texas heat(I’m a northerner) and I guess I’ll be relocating this through panel battery post.

Maybe you could make a positive ground system like some of the old English cars.

Choppedtop it definitely could and I thought about it but decided to move it. It was too close to the frame rail for comfort and I had a perfectly good spot well away from the rail to move it too. Figured if I got careless some day or it came loose for some reason it would be better to be a bit further away.
I served the plug from the new hole and I’ll glass it back closed next time I’m playing with fiberglass.

Not getting much done on the T. It’s inspection month for me and my wife’s car giving me headaches trying to get it to pass emissions. I’ve been looking my harness up. Takes quite a bit more loom than I thought. I keep running out and having to order more. I’ll get some pics soon. Also picked up a rear end to steal the diff out of. So probably going to start that soon.
