I have been looking onto this very topic, and what makes sence to me is to install (bond with glass) hard wood to the inside of the tub so it covers the jamb side and the door, also along the top and bottom of the door. once you do this you cut through the glass and wood. The wood is the reinforcement for the door and serves as the jamb. If you do it with the tub securely mounted to the frame, it will be strong, and fit. When you are done cutting, you should have a door and a jamb with a picture frame wood reinforcement, depending on how the floor is installed. If it is channeled, you may have to just cut the sides with the wood installed, and let the floor support the bottom of the jamb, and a horizontal piece of wood to reinforce the bottom of the door.

We use steel tubing to reinforce all the door bodies, everything is tied to the frame and all mounting points go thru steel plates

Here is an Hot Rod article from the 60's by Tex Smith and George Barris showing the method that fletcherson described:

    Crap . . . didn't work

Anyway it's on their Facebook page, so I guess you'll have to look . . . the link won't post right and the video won't embed . . .

You gotta have some big Huevos to take a saw to your car body!!!! Especially if it's finished.
