Started On The T

Thanks for the picture Tim, I have spent all day starting from scratch again. I have used 25x50x2mm box tube along the top to get a nice top edge. (My body was terrible from the start, very thin and poorly made), I also got more 25x25x2m box tube for the rest.
Your steel work looks fantastic:lol: . Hope I can get mine looking more like yours mate. Who made your Body???

My body was made by a now closed business called Fast Fibreglass Specialists by Ross Leach here in Adelaide. It was a fairly stong body to start with but like most it was a little out of square and a little twisted. I also put steel up under the top of the dash and cowl area as that had a fair dip in it. I am surprised you have to go that large with the steel framework in the body though. As far as I'm aware no-one has ever gone as far as I have with steelwork in a t body before, but yours will forsure. Things must be getting tougher in Vic. Are you building yours to the new Australian Street Rod Guidelines or just thru an Engineer?

The other Aussie T (Tim)

I went bigger in sides for a couple of reasons, when I looked from the top edge down to the floor the 25x25 did not line up vertically (probably because of the bends I had made) and I thought it would put the interior trims out of wack.
I also put the bigger steel in as a bit more surface area of contact, and to me it's a bit more pleasing on the eye (not that it's seen but I know it's there).
The body I have was 40mm out of square:eek:. I freaked but it easily came back to 4mm when I harnessed it to a timber chassis that was sqaure and put packers it.
I will hopefully put it on SR plate scheme rego as Vic will not register a T-Bucket on full rego anymore (or so I have been told). That means it is inspected by a Tech Advisory Commitee rep and if they are happy I get rego.
Have been on your web site Tim, lots of steel in that floor area mate
she looks the goods to me.....

Talk soon (will put a couple of photo's up on the week ends progress soon)
