Ok after all the to do and all the sour grapes, after 3 hours of digging they found out why some can post pics and some can't.

Mike set this up, we did not change it!!!

You have to make 10 initial posts to be able to post pics after you join the site. After that you have make 10 post at least every 30 days. Plain and simple I can only assume that it was set that way for security.

PARTICIPATION :

May of 2015 new registrations 13
May of 2016 21 about a 50% increase

June 2015 reg 20
June 2016 reg 24 with a week to go.

May of 2015 new posts 684
May of 2016 936

June of 2015 490 for the whole month
June of 2016 954 for the 3 weeks so far, we have another week left.

I have been on forums where you got to have 50 posts to sell something in the classifieds. Otherwise you get some real goofs.

I don't think you should have said "sour grapes" Ron.
To a person, everyone who has commented on that thread has been offering their opinions on improving the site...even if there was some disagreement over what needs doing.

So...does this mean you post more you gain the ability to post pictures as well?

Thanks for taking the time to look. I have a few more post than that but still no upload button. Not bothered at all as I can work from PB quite easily. Both windows open and 2 clicks, its done for each pic.

Definitely something had/has to be done to reduce spam, trolls, porn etc and that does not sound unreasonable to me. Perhaps the difficulty is worth it to make the browsing experience better. Its a forum, lighten up, "he has more access than I", really? 10 posts every 30 days? I am sure this was installed to promote interaction between members and to increase forum usage. Both very good qualities, and something that you would want in a community. It may be a little awkward to post pics the roundabout way but if it keeps the forum clutter free its a good thing. I don't even have my car yet but can find a way to make 10 posts a month. I, if I may, only have one issue with pics, :sneaky: The Photo Album should be a photo album, turn off comments for that section. Sometimes you just want to browse pics without having to skip over numerous posts. The build thread is the place for accolades, questions and such, but that is just me and either way is good. I'm just happy to have a place like this to come too. Thanks Ron for bringing the site back to life. And to quote Ricky Nelson "you can't please everyone"

I just checked...14+ posts for me this week. No button.
Thinking about it, I'm pretty sure Tfeverfred doesn't have a button...and he DEFINATELY has 10 posts in 30 days! LoL

Jeff...it isn't a matter of pleasing everyone.
It's about promoting interaction. Getting the site to grow.
Pictures draw people in and get them responding to the things they see...and it might even be something they see that isn't the subject matter intended.
EG...a pic of headers on a T might create interest in the steering system also pictured...or a discussion on the hows and whys of some firewall detail etc.
Words alone will never do that, as they don't stray far from the lone subject. They can't!

It's been said by multiple members that they shy away from posting here because of the perceived difficulty in posting pictures.
Considering that every other successful forum allows extremely easy picture uploads, it is something worth considering.
Thats all. Something worth checking out...

Personally, I can manage with PB. I'd rather not...but I can and will if thats what it takes.

It has been stated by other members that, for them, it might not be something they wish to deal with.

The whole thing has certainly brought up the level of interaction though! :D

Not to be a sour grapes guy, but I post more than I probably should, definitely more than 10 per 30 days, and I don't have the option. I AM NOT COMPLAINING! Just stating fact. There must be something else that we, I am missing. Someone said that there are security settings that we, as users, have access to that need changed, I haven't looked, but there may be something else to it. Thanks Ron for looking into this. You guys do great!

Just so I'm on the same page as everyone else, Bottom right on screen is "Post Reply" button in red. Next to that "Upload a File" button in grey. Next to that is "More Options" button in grey. Those who are saying they do not have the "Upload a File" button mean it is not there? My button works even though it is grey in color. If that means anything.

If you have the button you need it will be between the POST REPLY button and the MORE OPTIONS button.

I log on every time I go to this site and I now HAVE the upload button!
Everyone should log out and then back in...maybe we all have it now!?!?
