7.5 rear end?

I read a lot about people using s10 rear ends in t buckets. I know they can also be swapped out in a Malibu. I happen to be paying out a Malibu and have a jasper crate 350 with a 200r4. Would it be feasible to use the 7.5 from my MaLibu? I know I would have to ground off all of the mounts and make new ones. Our would it just be better not to. Thanks.

I think you can use about any rear end you choose to use. A lot of stock cars use the 7.5, so there are plenty of parts available. I think it would work fine!! Mine is an S10 though.

The only real determining factor is the width of the rear in my opinion. I'm using the s10 2wd rear and its 54" wide. The s10 4wd I think is 56". As all of the brackets will have to be cut off the rear and new ones installed you can use any rear, so the one you have will work fine. The biggest thing to consider is what style body you will be using in the back. Truck bed, turtle deck, modified. Some of the full size cars have a 60" wide rear, and I think it looks better to have the wheels tucked up close to the body, so wheel back spacing comes into play as well. Also the 7.5 has a centered pumpkin and only 1" offset on the pinion, which looks better than the ford 9" to me.
