Well these are cool I been thinking of one of these for a while but I figured I'd skip foreign power and stick in an American Big Block compared to those puny bug motors stuff the rear with American Heart beat Corvair !besides that way I got 2 passions covered in 1 car can take the street rod to my corvair meets as well!

OK we already got a miss conception going here I'm not saying VWs can't be built ,aren't fast etc.,etc.only that the Corvair 6 is pretty much the equivalent of a big block compared to the VW4. Anything done to any of the engines in these clips can be and has been done to the Corvair 6 and VW big bore kits are used to do some of it !Now I do cry foul when somebody claims they are racing or building ANY make but every piece is aftermarket by this I mean don't tell me how strong your Chevy ,Ford VW (add your fav brand here)anything is if its some billet blocked not 1 factory part motor. With out singling out any brand but for example if you are running a Donovan Hemi don't brag to me about how good your Chrysler Hemi is!With NO alterations to the factory engines of the same year can you bolt in a 180 hp VW 4 cylinder into one of these? This was supposed to be my light hearted attempt at comparing the "puny" Vw to the "big block"Corvair 4 cylinder vrs. 6 nothing more,And I got to tell ya as far as racing VWs go Wheel standing VW Bugs screaming down the local 1/4 mile impressed the hell outta me I have always like 6 cylinder or less hot Rods of almost any kind and I have had a few hot VWs the last was a 57 bug with a built Super Beetle dual port in it taken from a VW trike.1641 CCs what VW block is that built on?Just how big can a stock block be built to today?I'm asking because I I been away from VWs for a long time. My son and I are trying to cut a deal now on a couple Bugs that's what the 16 year old grand daughter wants for her 1st car a hot pink Bug!

I know a couple of guys that put Corvair engines in bugs and LOVE the results.

And I also know a few of hte members of the local Corvair club and they love their little sixers.

There have even been some very successful Mazda Rotary powered VWs and even Subaru powered VWs zooming around.

It it's got wheel and a hopped up engine I'm interested... shucks it could have a bone stock engine and I'd be interested in driving it. Still remember the LeCar and the Yugo? I've driven both.

How about a LeCar with a 500ci Caddy engine? That would be AWESOME!

Wonder if it would be as fast as the Hyabusa powered Smart Cars...

LeCar? Did somebody say a LeCar? Dear God did you guys live next to me during my teenage years. I had both a 72 Bug and a 82 LeCar. I need a gun. The memories are just too painful.:)

I managed to avoid the Yugo, but I did have its Japanese cousin the Geo Metro.
