Build sequence

Could any body give me a basic outline of the build process for a T.? Example, 1-frame, 2-front end, 3-rear end etc. or whatever worked for you. I don't want to get ahead of my self and have to back track a bunch. Thanks Mike J.

This could get complicated, but I can tell you the first thing to do is decide what body you will use so you can get the length figured out first. Most builds on here get the body first and mock up their build on 2x4 lumber so they will have enough room for everything. You should be able to find several good build sequences on here.

I agree with Francis 100%.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that I've already started and done the wood mock-up and have the extended body from RPM. The frame is tacked together. I'm just looking for a little guidance as to what order fabrication should take place. Thanks, Mike J.

Hang the front end on it. You will need your engine, trans and radiator next. Block the 3 up between the frame rails and set your body over the frame. You can use wood blocking, c clamps and vise grips to stabilize all the items. When these components are on the frame you will be able to see what interference or spacing issues you might have. Look at side shots of similar T's, paying attention to the firewall, radiator and rear wheel location in relation to the body. Hope this helps. I am sure others will be able to give good advise on what to watch for and address.
good luck,

I might also add that steering column and wheel are properly located along with proper seating. All these items are ergonomically important for comfortable and enjoyable cruising. Too often I see these items thrown in without any thought as to how they can and will affect your enjoyment of your ride. I can not stress ergonomics enough. IMHO

The previous posts have made excellent points that some basic engineering for ALL of the systems of a t-buckut should be thought out in advance!

Spirit Offers a build sequence at http://www.spiritcars.com/images/pdf/AssemblyManual.pdf

Books on the subject were/are published by Total Performance, Speedway Motors and Chester Greenhalgh.

As far as an assembly sequence, I took notes from the Shade Tree Mechanic build that was on TV, many years ago, and it was as follows:

I remember those episodes, between the spirit manual and the 1-5 shadetree episodes it gives me a direction. A LONG ROAD FORWARD !

One very important part of any build is to get the brake pedal where it works good for you
I'm thinking about a firewall mounted master, there will be room. If I go with a booster then it will be underneath and on the floor.

Thank you all, if there are other lists please send them.

Total Performance used to sell the entire shade tree series on 1 video tape I have a copy here I bopught at the T Bucket Nationals in Worcester along with their T build manual. They filmed a completely new "build" video there over the weekend but it never saw release!Speedway may have copies of the "Total Build video" featuring the Shade tree Garage since they bought all Totals inventory and rights/
