Cast Iron or Aluminum PG

I recently bought a T-Bucket kit with a 327 SBC and a 1962 Cast Iron Powerglide. There was a Hurst Pro-Matic 2 shifter still in the box in the floorboard. When I tried to install the shifter, I couldn't make it work right. I finally gave up and called the factory and was told that they didn't make one for the cast iron powerglide, only the aluminum. I called several manufacturers and was told the same thing. I really don't care for the rachet action. I just want to safely shift the gears with a safety switch if possible and a positive lock in Park. Does anyone have this same problem? "T in Texas"

First welcome P.Con :) I haven't seen a castiron PG in a T before. You may have to modify a shifter for your car, or make something. Where you at in TX?

I am at the southeast corner of the panhandle. Quanah after the last chief of the Comanches. It looks like the Hurst is an overkill. I'll work on a simple fix.

I have always liked B&M shifters. When I put in the full manual valvebody in the TH400 I wanted a ratchet shifter that would only go one gear at a time. I got a good deal on a new Hurst ratchet shifter. It was a total POS and I could not get it to shift at all. I got rid of it and went back to B&M and as usual no problems. In my opinion Hurst makes good manual shifters but their automatic shifters leave much to be desired.
