Coil springs

I'm trying to find springs for my coilover shocks. I need 2 1/2 ID, 12", chrome, 80lb.- 85lb. springs. I can find 95lb. chrome or 80lb. powder coated, or a host of other combinations but not exactly what I want. I suppose in a pinch I could use black as long as it was gloss. Any suggestions?

Jeff

So the 80-85 work nice on our cars?? I thought the 120s or so was where we wanted to be . I think mine are 110 1 7/8 spring 10 inches long on carrera nofade shocks. The ride is a bit stiff.

Here is a link to them. QA1 Hopefully these are what you need they look tapered in pic but are not. If these won't work call them they will have what you need.

On my 409 T I have 160 lb., 10" springs on Aldan adjustable shocks, and it isn't quite as stiff as I would like. However I am looking for springs for my wife's T. It has 4 shocks in the back, looks sort of like a poor man's jag setup, but she likes the look. This car used to have a transverse leaf spring, but I took that out, and so now what was simply 4 shocks has become 4 coil-overs. I'm totally guessing at the spring rate, but I figured that if my car uses 2 rear coil-overs with 160 lb. springs, then 4 80's might be right for hers. This could be an apples to oranges comparison because to get the lower spring rate I think I have to go to 12" springs vs. the 10" in the 409T. I tried 4 10" 115 lb. springs and they were too much, so this is my next guess. I know there are lots of variables here, but I have to start with something.

Jeff i met a guy north of me that uses motor cycle shocks in two pairs and swears by them .

I took your advice and found a company called ProShocks that had 1 7/8" ID 80 lb. springs on their shocks. I'm not sure if they are exactly for motorcycles, but they did the trick. The shocks are polished with black powder coated springs. They look nice, were not very expensive, and the guys made them to the exact height I needed. Thanks for the idea.

Glad that helped Jeff. Send me a pic when you can i would like to see the end result.

I'll have the car all done in a month, maybe less, and I'll take a bunch of pictures then.
