Where do you guys go to show off your cars? Local shows or do ya just wait for the Good Guys Car Shows? We have one over here at the Birdville Stadium once a month, but there usually aren't very many T-Buckets.
Or, are car shows just no fun?

Don't do many car shows but if you want to go cruising call me.............lol........Why should I pay someone to see my car and sit around for 6 hrs just to say I got this plaque/trophy, when I drive down the street its a car show anyway......

That was what I thought. That is one thing good about the Good Guys Show. You can drive around and you can go in and out when ya want.
Thanks

Myself and several of the members of the North Texas T-Buckets chapter keep an eye on the website called Hot Rod Happenings. I, for one, like car shows because it gives me a chance to see what others are doing, show off my car (which is not anywhere near the quailty of some of these guys), answer questions that people ask concerning the car and watch the eyes light up of the kids. Seems like the question asked the most is "what color paint is that" and "is that a JAG rear end"?

In fact, am going to a car show tonight ... 20% off food at El Chico and a car show ... what could be better! Today it is our 45th wedding aniversary, so told my wife I would take her to a show and dinner!

Do like the cruising scene, but not as much as a car show. Meet some interesting people ...

We have car shows every week end here and they are free to atend to . You can do your cruising to 5 of them that same night with short stops. I will never pay to show my car for some promoter to charge a spectator to see it .

From the end of March through November we go to local shows at least once a week. Some are free, some have admission, but that usually goes to charity. I like to see old friends, look at different cars and meet new people.

My wife, Nan, and I attend only one "show" a year. By a show I mean where there is real judging with awards. These "people's choice" or "participant judge" shows are not for us. We alternate every year between our "EX SEDAN" '37 Chevy and our "EX JUNK" '25 T. Other than that we go to "cruise nites" which are more relaxed and informal affairs. Both cars are quite "show worthy" and have garnered best of show awards on numerous occasions but that is not what it is about for us. The one show that we do every year is put on by a very active club that works tirelessly for a year to make it happen. Every car is judged by three teams of four judges each that go over every inch of your car. When you get an award you know that you have earned it.
In years past, with another vehicle, when I lived in northeast Ohio, I chased the "gold" from Canada to South Florida to as far west as Missouri. I collected many awards, many of which were six feet tall or better. But when it was all said and done we had to get rid of them when we moved to Florida. We hooked up with a guy that made and sold trophies and he came to our house with a Jeep Wagoneer with the rear seats removed he made three trips full up with awards to his shop. He disassembled them and recycled them into parts for new trophies. I felt better about doing it that way rather than setting them at the curb for trash pick up day.
So as you can see, Nan and I "have been there and done that" and don't need to do it again. That is why we are "cruisers" not "show" people.
