Glued on trim

Does anybody here know how to remove glued on fender trim? I've got some ugly trim I want gone. Is there a solvent that would dissolve the glue? It doesn't matter if it takes the paint off too.

Never mind, the trim had some double backed tape and it peeled off easy enough. Now I just need to sand and paint.

If you should ever have the problem again use 3M adhesive remover. it won't cut the paint. Thats what we always use in the body shop.........ruggs

Great, because I've got bits of dried goo they left behind. If I can get that off it won't clog up my sanding paper.

WD-40 works if you let it soak in then it balls up when you rub it.

since ya already have them off, next time you can use some fishing line and drag and pull it thru the molding or badge. At the auto paint supply store you can buy a round disc of stuff like a rubber pencil eraser. Put it in a drill and it will buff off the remaining adhesive. Might need to use some polishing compound depending on how dark your finish is.

I know you're not trying to be funny, but my finish is rust and chipped paint, which makes this sentence funny. I'm trying to pretty up that $300 truck my wife insists we keep after her mother decided she would rather be without a car than accept this truck. I was just trying to avoid denting the doors, which mission accomplished. The trim left behind dried goo which that 3M adhesive remover may help with. The truck is red and white, and next spring it will just be red. I'm thinking this truck would look great with a flatbed since the boxbed is beat up on the inside and it's missing the tailgate. I've welded a couple of supports where the tailgate should be to keep the taillights steady for now. The truck don't look like much, but it runs pretty good.

I'll look for one of those. I was planning on using my grinder with a fine sanding disk for the really stubborn bits of goo.
