Ground cable size

I went to an electrical wholesaler and bought some aluminum ends with 3/8''holes as the welding shop ones were really big, then crimped them on with a proper big ass crimping tool we had at work. I have soldered them too, but have a bit more faith in the crimped ends (Just my 2 cents.)
We always crimp them in the shop. Usually tinned copper crimp lugs have a small opening at the palm end which needs to be sealed as well as the cable end, especially around a battery. Resin lined heat shrink like Raychem ATUM seals everything up nicely. Lithium based grease (Shell Alvania) on the bolted connections to seal them, and good washers to get an even clamping pressure. We use belleville washers which are conical like a diaphragm clutch spring, good gear.

How did you solder an aluminum end to a copper cable?
