Tell me what I'm trying to get.
Artist that performed the song? Artist that wrote the song?
If it is the performer, then these are pretty easy. With one, possible exception.
1. Cream EDIT - I forgot Willie Dixon and Howlin' Wolf. :sly:
2. Willie Dixon or Johnny Rivers
3. B.B. King, John Lee Hooker or Led Zeppelin
4. Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and virtually every blues band that originated in Chicago
5. The Rolling Stones or Robert Johnson
6. Robert Johnson (I think. You may have me on that one.)
7. The Animals, Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels, the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and I think Pelvis Resley even did it too.
8. Everyone will remember Creedence Clearwater Revival, but no one will remember Leadbelly.
9. Another tricky one - The Animals is the version people will remember, but have you ever heard Dylan perform it?
10. Leadbelly titled it Gallis Pole and Led Zeppelin called it The Gallows Pole. Do you also know this one as being titled The Maid Freed from the Gallows? This one is older than dirt.
The Gallows Pole is a lot like Whisky In the Jar. Everyone thinks Metallica came up with that one. And if not them then it had to be Thin Lizzy. Lines from the song are 300+ years old!
How did I do on number 6? Was I even close?
