I'm going Drag Racing

Me and a buddy decided to do something crazy. There is a nostalgia race this weekend, and I decided Why Not? So I made up a front tank because I wasn't comfortable having the model T tank behind my head, made up a set of open headers, and am installing a mini spool tonight. Should be a lot of fun tomorrow I hope.

A video clip or two would be fantastic.

Don't have a video, but a snap shot with some #'s though. HAD A BLAST! The car hooked into the track like it was on a rail all day. Ran consistant 14.05's all day, that's good because anything under 14 would have put me on the trailer without a roll bar. Last run it went 19.95 at 98 mph. Not bad for a bone stock 305 with a cam, and a bone stock used 350 turbo trans and convertor. I wouldn't be the least bit afraid to put a real engine in this, the way it handled.

That's a great picture of your car, it sounds like you had a fantastic time. Was that held out at Cordova Dragway, I haven't been out there in years.

Yes, Cordova. They had a nostalgia class that day. There's an old bucket in front of me in this pic.

Great stuff. Real pleased you had a good time. So are you going to get the bug and build a cage so you can go "a little bit quicker?"

Many would say that drag racing is an addiction with no known cure - I like it like that!

Yea, I was considering building a cage or bar the whole time I was building the car - but haven't yet. I think I may leave the car with a profeesional this winter for that. The cage will also be a good consideration for the street, mainly because I usually always have the top on anyway. This car will be so easy to cut seconds because it handled so good.
