inexpensive spring

I bought a Tractor Supply spring to mock up the car, but it is 4" to short. I am looking for a cheap 29" spring, Speedway stuff tends to be kinda crap so I would rather pay $40.00 for crap than $100.00 for Mr.Roadster stuff which is no better. Any suggestions?

I have a chrome front spring from Speedway and it's just fine. These days, you get what you pay for. You might also look at Pete and Jakes.

I have used the Mr. Roadster springs on several cars without any problems. They detail out nicely.

I have one in the garage I will measure it tomorrow night after work. I thought Keeper had You covered.

Check your local listings for a spring shop near you. Most major cities have one. They should be able to make up a main leaf for you, usually around 20bucks. Then you can use the leaves from your TS spring.

I called 7 suspension shops only one makes springs, they want $100.00. I am better off buying a new Mr. Roadster for about the same price.

Ddepending on the parts we use, sometimes we just have to step up and pay the piper I guess.

Try these guys. The rodders up here have been using them for years.

Ted, I thought about making spring pearches to fit my narrow spring but I am afraid it will look wierd. Ron, I am running 46 Ford drums on roundback spindles, the cool Henry stuff is a bit spendy so I try to be cheap where I can. I am building my own steering column so I can afford a $300 banjo wheel. Just trying to save money if there is a cheap alternative. I will call the spring shop you listed on Monday, thank you.

Tell me about your front end. what axle are you using? Split wishbones, hairpins or ? Are you sure a 31" Model A spring won't work?

Ron

I am using a Maginum 4" dropped I-beam axle with with hair pins on a Spirit chassis. The holes are 34" apart, from what I have read my spring has to be 29".
