Inherited a 23-25 style T Bucket car...

Hi guys, I just a couple of days ago drove home a 27 T bucket style car that another guy had started and was tired of it taking up space in his garage.

Thought I would post a few pics and see what you thought.

He did not do this from a kit but laid out the frame in his garage and welded it all up from scratch. I don't know if he had a plan to go by or what but seems like a solid frame anyway. He did a *lot* of work by hand, I crawled around underneath and he fabricated a lot of stuff under there. Especially in the passenger compartment, wooden floors, seats, sound baffling, etc.... Really good work in my humble opinion.

As you can see the car is basically finished except for some final touch up stuff.

It needs the shocks connected as you can tell by some of the pics.
The electrical needs to be gone over. It does have headlights that work but no turn signals...
The transmission speed gear is stripped so I can't tell how fast I am going...
The shifter is atrocious. It works but man is it ugly as you can tell. Does anyone know of a cheap simple shifting lever I could replace that thing with?
And as you can tell it is dusty from sitting for so long.
He told me he has (maybe) put 30 miles on it since he got it running. Wow.

Dale, it may be "titled" as a '27 but the body is the '23 to '25 style.

Nice starter project. Wring it out a bit and drive the wheels off it. Oh and welcome to the site.

Really. Thanks for telling me. I wondered what year it really was about. He is getting me the title and I will see what he put it down as. But that's what the previous owner said he "thought" he had titled it as.I think he started this project like 10 or 11 years ago and its been sitting in its current state for probably 6 or 7 of those years.

He was telling me that he pushed it in and pushed it out of his garage and would charge up the battery to gives kids rides around the block and so forth.

Actually, I think a 1923 would be even cooler on a title. :)

Thanks Ron. Yeah, I intend to just have some fun with it. Maybe put on a set of headers that sweep out and back by the doors with some extensions with mufflers. Finish the wiring, maybe put a top on it, definitely get the shocks connected.

Dale

One thing I would suggest is a nut and bolt check. Start at the front and wrench every nut n bolt from one end to the other.

Dale, you might want to check out the Tech Articles on the Forum. In there you'll see some simple wiring diagrams that you can use to do your wiring.

Got a little more done. Got the brackets for the shocks welded on. Kind of ugly but they won't fall off I don't think.

I know the bolts are too long. I will shorten them and tap some new threads later. I just wanted to try this out and it works very well. No front end galloping around now.

You might want to see what you can do about rerouting that drivers side brake hose.

Ron

I'm talking about the flexable hose going to the wheel cylinder. Looks like it could chafe on the drag link.
