So i'm thinking about making a hood for my car out of aluminum sheet. What thickness do you think would work well but still be relatively easy to form? I don't have an English wheel or bead roller.
I would use .050” thick 3003 H-14 aluminum. 3003 H-14 is easy to bend or form and it’s easily welded using TIG or gas. Most aluminum bodies use .050” because if you go thicker it is harder to form and if go thinner, it can be easy to dent.
