How many of you guys/girls have music in the shop? Is it a must have? Choose all the answers that apply to you.

I've had Pandora to stream music in the shop for many years. I would say it's a must have for me!

I subscribe to Youtube.
What does YouTube charge for ad free service?
Pandora has three pricing plans.

Spotify looks to be more costly, but I think it's more popular. They have 4 plans.

It even has a 8-track player built in
Now, that takes me back to the 70's when I had a 8-track player in my 1964 Malibu.
I purchased this Sansui receiver about 10 years ago. I recently had it re-capped (replace all capacitors) and a LED light kit put in. Capacitors are the most likely component to go bad over time, so it's pretty common to just replace all capacitors. He also adjusted the voltages per factory specs in several places internally.

I did the same for my Yamaha CR-600 I purchased in the late 70's. I have a guy locally that works on electronics.

My Sansui, the blue LED's look good I think!

I have a radio from the early 70s that belonged to my great aunt; I received it when she passed 20 years ago. That radio has been in my garage ever since. I wired extra speakers into it and have them spread out across the garage. No stereo, just simple music. I enjoy it. Also has an 8 track in it.

I also have a radio in the shop so I can listin to Old time Country Music, FM W105, try it you will like it,,,,,,,

Since I cannot drive anymore, music has become a lot more important to me. I'm in the process of building a Vacuum Tube Amplifier from scratch. Even the case is blank when it arrives, I have to cut out all the holes. The 5 large holes are for the vacuum tube sockets. Template is on the right. I'm going to paint the case with Gold/Clear mixture of Cerakote.

I'm going to use a Turret Board for the majority of my wiring. Where most people use Point-to-Point or a Printed circuit board.

Working on it Buffman, I need to upgrade my IceDrive to a larger storage plan. I had to contact Support, so it might be a few days.

Rick, will your garage have "surround sound" or will it be mono-directional from the work bench? I can see the development of a really cool man-cave. You'll have to have a 'Grand Opening' party to kick the thing off!!! 😁

The setup is not going in the garage. I'm working on converting a bedroom room in the house dedicated to my sound system. No it will not be a surround, that works best for movies where the sound can come from anywhere around your position. With music it all comes from in front, like at a concert. Therefore stereo is actually better for vinyl records.

A good sipping whiskey and some Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Linda Ronstadt or Miles Davis coujld make for a excellent listening party!!!

Thanks for asking!
