Howdy, I just joined from St. Louis looking for a little information. I just started my T-Bucket build a few days ago and plan to take a year or 2 to finish. Once i make more progress then a junk block mounted in a frame on jack stands sitting in my garage I might post a few pics lol. For now I am just reading up on any info I can find.

My last few project cars have fallen due to a loosing battle against rust. So I decided to build a car with all new parts. My goal for the t bucket is no chrome at all while still looking very clean and well put together. I don't know why, but I have never been a chrome fan on my own cars. I am still working on my concept drawing and will post it when I am happy with it.

:welcome: Hi Waffles always glad to see a new buckethead on here. There are some guys on here in St Louis. I agree with you about chrome, I have never been fond of it.

Welcome Waffles. Take all the time you need on your bucket that way you dont cut corners and regret it later on. Im also not a big chome guy but if its just a little and its done right, it always looks good. Oh and it dont matter if you have 2 pieces of steel on plastic buckets, post what you have. Its always cool to watch it transform from nothing to "holy crap thats awesome" lol.

Welcome from Indy! Buckets are great projects as you don't have to drop loads of cash on quarter panels, trim parts and other big ticket items that bog you down $$$-wise.

Working out your concept and look prior to starting is definitely the key. To me the key is to set a concept or theme and staying true to it.

Lots of nice cars out there without Chrome. Other options for sparkle is silver paint or powdercoat. Our current build is a low $$ '23 with nearly everything possible powdercoated (we own a powdercoating shop). The nice thing is fresh paint makes those junkyard and swap meet parts look new again. Here's a pic of the 283 SBC motor we are using--the intake, valve covers, and other misc is powdercoated with silver sparkle. Nothing was new but the oil pan and headers:

Contrasting colors can be use very effectively to accent a car.

Ron

Oh yeah ... welcome to the site!

That looks like a nicely done block. I had done similar contrasting using silver and black on one of the last engines I rebuilt(pic below). I liked how it turned out alot. I like alot of the color schemes of the 60s but still have not picked final colors.

Welcome to the forum from Northern Illinois Waffles. When I was young I used to think that you needed chrome to be cool, today I'm glad I never got around to adding much to my bucket. I'd rather be out cruising then in the garage polishing or worrying about getting it dirty.

Ben , what is the color pain you have on the block? that's a cool color!

Hey Waffles,

I'm over in Hazelwood. Got my chassis done except for wiring and am in the process of finishing the body. It's taking longer than I thought due to our weather here.

I am just over in Florissant. I have a heated and cooled garage so I am hoping the weather does not slow me down to much, but we will see.

I am still working on getting rid of all my old RX7 parts so I have more room to work in my garage. I am half tempted to just call a scrapper for whats left of the rusted out body lol.
