Mid 50's in age coming from the Muscle Car and Harley world. Had my share of Vettes, Cuda, Challengers and Novas and even a mustang. Always was interested in the roadsters but never owned one. I have my bike for sale and had planned on using that money and some my wife will let me spend now to get a start in building the Channeled Nostalgia 23 T kit from Speedway using their parts and a GM Performance mild crate engine and a Jegs TH350 transmission.
Then I started reading this forum a little while ago and now am worried about titling and licensing it when its done. I looked at a few complete cars but haven't ran across one that is worth the cost to buy yet. Are any of you other Illinois people able to ease my concerns on this issue before I start to plunk down the cash for the kit? I like to do the build but hate red tape and paperwork!

Welcome to the forum, I'm also in northern Illinois (just west of O'Hare). It's been a while since I titled my bucket, 1967 to be exact, so I imagine things have changed. I'd suggest you check out this link then contact the secretary of states office with any questions. From the way it reads as long as you have documentation for your parts from Speedway you shouldn't have a problem. I'd call Speedway and ask what paperwork their kits include.

Welcome from Indy!

Keep looking - there are some good deals to be had on a complete car. Just make sure you drive it and are comfortable in it - lots of uncomfortable T's out there.

You can say that again, Ben! I rode in one that was built by a better known T builder and it did not have proper seat angle, especially rake angle of the backrest. Talk about a BACKACHE! I was sore fore a couple of days after riding with him.

Hey from northern ill. [near starved rock] , since I've had mine on the road for 13 years I can't speak to titling issues now , however , I know they've tightened up since then so it can't be fun !!!
