It doesn't hinge, but lifts off after you depress the quick latch buttons.

Next to the body on each side I also installed some Amerock cabinet catches

is the base coat of the paint the spray chrome with a blue top coat? i just saw a youtube video of a bucket getting painted that looks just like this

Robert, I have 4 coats of base coat which is the Subaru World Rally Blue color. Then on top of that 4 coats of clear coat.

Very nice looking bucket; that's just how I want mine to look!
