Any of you using OEM parts in you builds? I'm using several.

Parts like this are cheap, look good and operate really well.

My E-brake assy came out of a Nissan Altima and I made the cable assys out of E-brake cable from the HELP section of Advance Auto that attach to the original Ford cables that go to the backing plates. Solid aluminum round stock with set screws to hold the cables together.

I just grabbed a pair of these Mercedes rear seat roll bars for a song. I'll figure out a way to incorporate them into my seats.

I want!!! What year and model did those roll bars come from? I do not have much expectation for them as roll bars...I want them for grab bars to assist getting in/out.

Me too. I'll use them as head rests.

Thanks! I'll be looking for them.

If non-mechanical OEM parts count I have a couple goodies planned. 1920 Hupmobile Radiator/Grille shell
1920 Hupmobile Grill.jpg

And a set of old Peterbilt headlights

I like those headlights.

I like those headlights.

I loved them the first time I saw them...but then I found out how expensive they can be. OEMs can run over $300 each...knockoffs over $150 each. I did a Follow on ebay hoping to get a reasonably priced used set, and after close to 2 years I got really lucky. A NOS set of OEMs that no one else jumped on and I got for $100 for the pair.

Something I really like is that there is all kinds of upgrades out there. I've already got the LED turn/park upgrade, and hope to go with a HID Xenon conversion for the headlights

K.I.S.S.

I repurpose all kinds of stuff. Lately, however, I haven't been to the scrap yard much. Getting lazy with age, I guess. You are right, factory parts are good quality, and with some ingenuity, you can come up with cool resolves.

Well for some reason my link did not work. I bought off Amazon. I think you can find with this info:
TMS® Chrome Motorcycle Cruiser Red Turn Signal LED Tail Brake Stop Light Bullet Style Waterproof for Harley Davidson Touring Cruiser Custom Dyna FX FXR FXD Vrod Honda Goldwing GL VTX

K = Keep
I = It
S = Simple
S = Stupid

Keep it simple Stupid, just a phrase to live your build by

That is understood. In this instance what brings about it's use?

Cheapest lights are the speedway deitz with a couple of this little bright camouflaged leds for turns yellow or red . I have on the 32 cannot even see them except when you turn and they are bright. If you have leds all the way around it may require a united pacific flasher.

Those TMS lights are cool...especially at that cost. If I did not already have my taillights I'd be seriously considering those

I started out planning on the Speedway Deitz lights...but from the start they were too common for my genetic predisposition to avoiding the usual. So I started looking around for something different but affordable.

Yes, I'm going with all LED lighting...except for the headlights. The Centech fuse/flasher panel I'm planning on is available with LED flashers.

We should have a parts store sticky thread. For example I used(told the parts kid at the counter) a 1969 chevelle for the high low beam floor switch.
simetimes you got to use a car or truck year and model you know had a certain part you need.
