OEM parts

I have an old family owned auto parts store here. The kids (I'm guessing grandkids, nephews, etc.) always need a make, model, VIN number.

I mean we're talking about some real basic stuff. Like a trans mount for a TH350.

The old timers there really know their stuff and just tell the kids, "go in the back and grab a ........"

When the old guys are all gone, it's gonna be tough to get what you need.

I went in one the other day and asked for a pan gasket for a chevy turbo 350 trans. The kid asked, what car is it in? I said the cars not stock, I dont know what it came out of, its a turbo 350. He said I dont have any (without even looking), I can order you one. I said nope and walked out. I called another one the next day and he said I got 3 of em right here (without even looking). I was in and out in about 2 minutes.

Its tough when you need the part today and you just give up and buy it online and wait a week to find out you ordered the wrong stuff. Right now I'm doing an idiot light for oil have no clue what year to look for the sender I'm thinking mid seventies chevy passenger car.

I might use those because they were longer than the mid seventies ones and narrower too. I got to put mine next to the distro because I dont have room by the filter boss because of the column shift.

Another score. Brand new GM horns. Picked'em up for a song on eBay.
