Oil Coolers?

Hi all,
I read recently that an engine oil cooler could drop the engine oil temperature by up to 30 degrees.

Knowing that excess heat kills engines, I was wondering if my cars should each have one.

Any comments? My bucket has a big block & blower & heat is an issue for me

Thanks
Todd

Anytime heat is a issue, a oil-cooler is good, with a blower. I'd say its best to run one, on a turbo setup, where your returning hot oil from the drive turbine bearings to the pan, a definite YES.

If you're suffering high oil temperatures, then a cooler would be a good idea. No reason to not use one in that case. If water temperatures were out of hand, you would address them, so why not high oil temperatures?
