I'm not sure about that pass. He got some more clutch out of it (wow, do you think it needed it?!?) and got it go 6.80 @ 202 on the next pass. Not the best track in the world, unfortunately. He was so busy trying to keep the car in the groove he really stretched a couple of gear changes. These guys used to run B/AA, so it looks like they're still finding their way around, inside the can.
What you might think those cars want for clutch usually throws most people off for a few passes. And then people usually end up going too far the other direction. A clutch is a lot like a fine lady. You have to use a very gentle touch and a lot of finesse to get her to do what you want. Actually, I always said the clutch in the dragster was like a whore. She would show me a wee bit of leg, just to attract my attention and then she would throw up on my shoes, just to remind me who was in control.
