Promote the forum

OK guys.
I am A framing the Fad to our Nats at the end of this month. Suggestions as to how I can promote the Forum are welcome so give me your ideas. The T gets quite a lot of attention so I figure its a good way to push the forum to other like minded people.
And NO I am not going to paint the logo on my body as someone here suggested. Not that it would'nt be too difficult a task just I know how hard it is to re-smooth a body after airbrush work has been done.
gerry

hahah I thought you meant airbrush the logo on YOUR body and smoothing it off later!!!
Man.. between Mike's comment about his kilt and you and the logo.. I either need another drink or some coffee.
Ok.. I'll shut up about that now.

Maybe Mike has a business card file he can send you. You could print out a few and have them near your T.

I don't know if you have a forum T shirt but whenever I wear mine when I'm out cruising in my bucket I always have someone ask about it. If you don't have one I'm sure you could order one from Mike

Gerry,

Your car will create interest in T's well beyond what some shirt offers that I doubt you'll need one to promote the site when people have a chance to see your workmanship. Having said that, it wouldn't hurt the forum were you to wear one. I would think someone interested in expanding themembership might just decide to send you a couple of shirts.

Be warned however not everyone attending a car show is a good prospect to be a member here (please realize, I realize you already realize that) as we have a bit of a unigue group - a bunch of builders and entusiasts brought together under the common umbrella of the "T". Mind you, it's not the Tbucketeers and Camero and Mustang Club........ just kidding a bit.

We'll need pictures, you know.

Thanks. First off my other half has made it clear that a tat on my forehead will invoke many days of grumpy, so thats out. I always take loads of pics its posting them that takes time. I dont like the web based photo sites so I have to resize and post each one individually. Takes a bunch of time. I may be able to throw a link on the forum as there are a couple of guys that psot dozens of pics on our meets. I will concentrate on the Ts.

Print out a bunch of three line flyers with the website and put them in by your car with a "take one they're free sign.

And you could check and see if Andy (Fadster) is going to attend. If he is, get him to park nearby and to start up his engine on a regular basis as that will attract the punters like nothing else.

It doesnt matter if you give away some flyers to people who dont get buckets, the will have a looky and move on pretty quickly

Speaking of T-shirts can I special order some man size shirts in 5XL ?
No, no, no, no and no.

I still have nightmares whenever anyone mentions t-shirts. I spent a pile of money for shirts everyone had to have and then had umpty-gazillion shirts sitting on shelves for months. And months. And months. I still have nine Large shirts on the shelf, which serve as a reminder to never order any more t-shirts again in my life. We ran a quick online poll to see how many shirts people might want and there was a demand for 4 dozen shirts. But I couldn't get a good enough price until I had ordered 7 dozen shirts. Some 6-8 weeks after the shirts had arrived, we had sold 14 of them. The forum bank account couldn't cover the cost of the shirts and I had gone into my own pocket to pay for the rest and they laid on the shelf for what seemed like years, before I finally got my own money back out of them. Everyone wanted hats and I cannot recall the last time I sold a hat. People wanted jackets and there are a total of two T-Bucket Forums jackets in existence, one of which belongs to me. Fortunately, I only have one or two hats in stock and the jackets were custom-made, so I never had much money invested in those items.

I've thought, from time to time, about bumper stickers, windshield decals, dash plaques and the like. Every time I get one of those crazy thoughts, I walk over to the closet here in the office and look at those nine shirts I've had for the last couple years and my mind immediately clears. I really liked the idea of having something to help promote the forum, but once bitten, twice shy. I've a pal with what one might think would be a very small niche automotive forum. He actually has about 7 times the members we have and close to a million posts. He can't keep shirts in stock, selling them at $20 each and goes crazy keeping up with his bumper sticker sales, at $7 each. I would love to be able to supplement my income in the same manner, but it just didn't seem to work here. We live and we learn.

But sorry, there are no shirts available in 5X. I think 3X were the largest I ever had.

I came late to the forum but I have my shirt!
It was the only shirt I ever bought to promote/sponsor anything.
It's a great shirt!
But it's white.
And I'm messy.
Some guys are a chick magnet. I'm a grease magnet.

Gerry, I'm sure you will be the best promoter just by talking to people.
How about a sign next to car.. "Learn more about me and other great Ts at www.tbucketeers.com" or something like that? And have the address on a card for those of us with bad memories.

And how about asking your other half to wear a tat for the event since she won't let you??? No??? Ok. :jh:

The other half and a Tat, thats like asking for a T with a clockwork motor in it. I guess I will do something along the lines of a small poster with the forum URL on it.
Mike; sorry to hear about the T shirts. Its always a gamble buying on peoples wants.
